Department Specialties

Examinations carried out in our laboratory department, such as: blood, urine, feces and other biological materials, contribute to disease diagnosis, treatment monitoring and prevention.

Hematologic

It studies the morphology and physiology of blood cells in order to immediately find the condition and fight it. The following are the tests carried out:

Biochem

In the biochemical department of our laboratory, tests are carried out that can detect malfunctions of various organs and metabolic disorders of our body.

Microbiological

In the microbiological department, all laboratory tests for the detection of microorganisms are carried out. Such as:

Urine culture
Faecal culture and parasitology
Nasal and pharyngeal swab culture

Immunological

The immunology department performs a wide range of tests contributing to the investigation of some diseases, to the control of their course, as well as to the management of their treatment. Such diseases are:

Hormonal

Hormonal tests are especially useful for checking hormones. Hormones are produced by special glands in the body called endocrine glands.

Cytological

Cytological examinations aim at the prevention and early diagnosis of neoplastic and non-neoplastic diseases. One of the most important cytological tests is the well-known Pap test, particularly important for the prevention of cervical cancer.

Prenatal checkup

Prenatal Control refers to a series of tests that are carried out either at the beginning of pregnancy or before the couple starts trying to conceive. These are essentially very important tests that can prevent and treat certain diseases and concern both the safety of the mother and the child.

Molecular checkup

It is the method of very high sensitivity in any biological material (blood, urine, smear) in order to detect and study the DNA or RNA of microorganisms, viruses and human cells.

Covid-19

Sithonia Biodiagnosis offers tests for the detection of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus that causes the disease COVID-19, with the primary goal of providing valid and timely results.

The main types of diagnostic tests for the detection of coronavirus are: a. method with PCR Test (classic) and RT-PCR Test (rapid), molecular analysis, b. the detection of SARS-CoV-2 virus antigen (RAPID Test) and c. the tests for the detection of antibodies to the COVID-19 IgM, IgG against the virus.
